Towards 55

A Quiet Answer to an Old Question

This morning, brushing my teeth, I remembered a question someone once asked me:

“Where will you be at 55?”

At the time, I had no answer and drew a blank.. it felt abstract.

Now I am two weeks away from turning 55.

And I have the answer.

I will be happy, light.
I will be free, unburdened by the heaviness of life. Because I made all the choices that made sense to me.
I will be working in Málaga
A place of beauty and social networking that leads to business success.

Working not in the way where ambition once defined success.

But in a way that fits my nervous system.

A Different Kind of Achievement

At 55, I have:

  • A 2–10 job in customer experience support that suits me.

  • Mornings that belong to me.

  • Days off that feel like holiday because I have designed my life to feel like one.

  • Light.

  • Air.

  • Water.

  • Movement.

There is no dramatic headline.

Just alignment.

And that may be the most underrated milestone of all.

The Architecture of Contentment

Contentment is often mistaken for complacency.

It is not.

It is structural coherence.

Income without exhaustion.
Ambition without urgency.
Freedom without chaos.
Stability without stagnation.

I have lived the nonlinear chapters:
Doctor.
Nomad.
Corporate.
Explorer.

Now they coexist.

The decisive part still works.
The free part still breathes.
The strategic part still calculates.
The soft part is no longer hiding.

This is integration, not reinvention.

The Practice Space Waiting

There is also a practice space here.

It is not forced.
It is not rushed.

It is waiting.

For meditation sessions.
For massages.
For workshops.
For half-day retreats.

Not because I must fill it to prove something —
but because I now have the internal space to hold it.

Slow scaling.
Intentional building.
Revenue as structure, not stress.

The Financial Horizon

I have defined a financial trajectory — €106K over the next 2–3 years.

Not as ego.

As calibration.

Not to become someone.

But to build sustainable architecture:
Taxes handled wisely.
Investments aligned.
Security in place.
Optionality preserved.

Freedom is not randomness.

Freedom is designed sovereignty.

What 55 Really Means

If I look at this honestly, 55 is not about expansion.

It is about refinement.

Knowing:

  • What energizes me.

  • What drains me.

  • What I no longer need to prove.

  • What I still want to cultivate.

Deepening one relationship.
Swimming more.
Protecting mornings.
Building without frenzy.

There is something profoundly satisfying about saying:

When someone asked where I would be at 55 —
I did not imagine this.

But this fits.

A Personal Definition

At 55, I am not chasing.

I am governing.

My life feels lighter because it is designed.

And if this is what midlife maturity looks like —
then I welcome it.

Quietly.
Gratefully.
Free.
